Honda’s BF30 has 552cc of displacement distributed over three cylinders and offers excellent power, idling, throttle response, fuel economy and overall performance.

The BF30 has standard, a flywheel-driven ventilation system that provides high cooling efficiency within the engine cover. The engine boasts an excellent power-to-weight-ratio with its 72.5kg weight combined with a strong 30hp at 6000rpm.

Standard on all tiller handle models is Honda’s exclusive multi-function tiller handle, featuring the indicator lamp, throttle control, power trim & tilt switch and gear shift lever all on the tiller handle. The BF30 is also available in a remote control option for small runabouts and sport fishing boats. Honda’s industry leading integrated warning system protects the engine from severe damage due to low oil, over-revving and over-heat situations. Weighing 110kg, the newly-designed, water-cooled, 998cm3 three-cylinder engine incorporates electronic fuel injection, Honda’s revolutionary Boosted Low Speed Torque (BLAST™) air/fuel ratio and ignition-timing technology, and lean burn control to deliver powerful start-up and acceleration together with outstanding fuel economy during cruising (ECOmo). Honda's industry leading and large displacement – the BF175/200/225 - features a compact 60° V6, 3.5 litre engine; with 24 valve Multi Point sequential fuel injection. Providing today’s operators with the most technologically advanced outboard power available.

The heart of the BF175 is Honda’s Engine Control Module. This manages all engine functions such as the variable air intake, ignition timing and idling speed. It also pilots the engine alert system in case of low oil pressure, over-heating, over-revving and water contamination in fuel for total worry-free boating. Standard feature on the BF175 is an air feedback sensor and Honda's industry exclusive Lean Burn Feedback System. This reduces fuel consumption by five per cent over the previous models. Furthermore according to internal factory tests, fuel consumption is reduced by 14% over direct injection 2-stroke models and 10% over competing 4-stroke models.

The latest generation of large-displacement V6 four-stroke EFI outboards has been reworked and refined to deliver more torque, even greater fuel efficiency, incorporate NMEA 2000 compatibility (engine-to-electronics data communication) and other advantages.

The incorporation of Honda’s revolutionary Boosted Low Speed Torque (BLAST™) air/fuel ratio linked ignition timing control technology delivers explosive hole shot performance to get boats on the plane quicker than ever. Activated by sudden throttle movement, BLAST makes available the greatest amount of torque at the precise moment it’s required.

Reducing fuel consumption by five per cent over the previous BF200 was achieved by adopting a combination of an O-2 feedback system and simple lean burn system – a first in the outboard industry. Known as ECOmo (Economy Controlled Motor), the system is activated when the engine is in mid-range cruising rpm and the throttle is steady. Extensive testing concludes the resultant fuel efficiency is equivalent to that of Honda’s BF150 linear air-fuel (LAF) lean burn system.

Among other notable changes, a new gearcase – with a dramatically more hydrodynamic profile – reduces water resistance and improves acceleration, and a new water intake screen provides better cooling for maximum motor efficiency. A freshly-designed anti-cavitation plate also reduces engine splash, while additional sacrificial anodes ensure increased corrosion resistance for extended durability.
